Color Phobos Biography
Color Phobos is a dynamic, jazz-inflected rock outfit built on the foundation of years of collaboration between songwriting partners and Michigan natives Joel Jackson and Ken Downie. After stints in various bands throughout the 1990s in Detroit, Boston and Colorado, Joel and Ken moved to the Left Coast in 1999, officially forming the Color Phobos project that year. Currently residing in the up-and-coming musical oasis that is Portland, Oregon, Ken and Joel lost no time in completing their lineup with the notable talents of former Inertia drummer and East Coast transplant Chris Krady on the drums.
Color Phobos is Rock. But what would Rock and Roll be without the Blues, and Soul, and Funk, and a little bit of Jazz? Driven by Joel's fiery guitar and Ken's powerful yet lilting voice, the band fuses all of these "colors" into a style that is theirs alone - the anti-genre, so to speak.
Color Phobos captures the soul of the singer/songwriter through the prism of an intense rock ensemble. Their songs are not simply vehicles for virtuosity - they are the art itself. Expansive vocal harmonies and contemplative lyrics are Color Phobos trademarks that provide the perfect palette for instrumental exploration.
